As I reflect on having 3 boudoir shoots scheduled for the rest of this month, I have to sigh a breath of thankfulness and awe that women are catching on to this idea. While I have only done a handful of these sessions so far, I find the images to be some of my favorites. There are only a handful that the general public are able to view thanks to the lovely Lisa, but trust me when I say that working with these women to showcase them in a beautiful and flattering way has become much more than producing images that their significant other will love.

These ladies are coming away from the experience with a self confidence they didn’t expect. Sure, they are familiar with my work and style, but it’s more than a little unnerving to be the one being photographed, nevermind the part where you’re wearing next to nothing.
When people think of this genre, they usually think of the super hot sizzling images they can find online with a click. Let me assure you, that while those images are all fine and good and appropriate for a certain woman, it’s not what I’m doing here. Of course I want to capture the sexy, but like I said before, I am all about beautiful imagery, first and foremost. And that comes from working with your unique personality to bring that out in the photos.
Here’s a little something from a previous client regarding her experience.
Carrie,
I wish you could have been a fly on the wall when my husband saw the pictures last night. He was blown away. He really didn’t know what to expect, but what you delivered was not what he was expecting. The first word he used was classy, which I thought was very interesting after what you wrote yesterday (he had not read that), so you obviously are accomplishing what you have set out to do. A little later, he said that they weren’t just pictures of me in underwear, but that the pictures were art. Definitely a whole other level above what he had imagined. They really are amazing pictures Carrie – I’m so glad I did this and didn’t talk myself out of it or try to wait until I thought I was ‘thinner’.
(and from the next email after receiving the album)…
My husband loved the album, and commented about how much nicer is was than he ever envisioned. When he first looked through it, he got to the last page and promptly went back to the first so he could look through again. He also wondered aloud how it could be possible for the pictures to look even better than they did on the computer.
This has been an interesting experience for me; but also very positive. I am finally getting to the point where I can see myself the way my husband sees me. It’s been a difficult and lengthy journey. It’s nice to be able to look at these pictures and see something beautiful and sexy.
And that’s what it’s all about.

For me, boudoir is all about capturing the class.

Boudoir is quickly becoming one of my favorite types of photography to shoot and is producing some of my favorite images. Most of which I won’t post due to the client’s privacy. You’ve probably already read my other thoughts on the subject if you’ve been around this blog for long, so I won’t drone on and on about how important it is to show women how beautiful they already are.
I just want to encourage you ladies to consider gifting yourself with one of these sessions. I’ve had nothing but positive feedback and we have so much fun. Who doesn’t need that kind of confidence booster?

Ok Ladies! Hopefully you’ve seen what a boudoir session is all about when you book with me, but if not check out the gallery by going to http://carrieevans.smugmug.com and clicking on the boudoir gallery.
To kick start spring and my entrance into this unique genre of photography, I am going to offer $25 off all boudoir sessions. For complete session details, email gremlinwrangler@gmail.com
A few FAQ’s about how these sessions work:
Where will we shoot?
Mostly in the studio. Traditionally, boudoir takes place in a bedroom because that’s what the word actually means. I have some decent light in my bedroom and we might try to get some shots in there and then move into the studio where I will use blankets, rugs, whatever to capture some unique images. However, if you have an awesome bedroom with stunning light, I am open to checking it out before the session to see if we could shoot there.
What should I wear?
Obviously lingerie is what most people think of for these shoots, but really you can get creative with other clothing. It’s really all about your comfort level. Button down shirts, oversized sweaters, every day clothes that we can tweak to up the sexy factor….think outside the box. And don’t forget the heels! Sexy heels add so much to the lingerie and other outfits.
I really want to do this session, but I need to lose weight first.
Here’s the thing: I understand this feeling. And I have two thoughts on it. If you are currently losing weight and making progress and just really want to reach that 5-10 lb goal to reward yourself with a session like this, I get that. The other thought I have is that most every woman wants to lose weight. I am not shooting in the same way as I would with a super trim model. I mostly photograph normal, every day women who might have a belly or stretch marks. Maybe they hate their thighs. We can talk about that and you can trust that I will focus on the beautiful parts of your body. Losing a ton of weight isn’t really necessary to participate in a boudoir shoot. It’s about celebrating your body the way it is.
I’m worried about being too nervous.
That’s normal and I am more than willing to have drinks available to knock off the edge. Most people have told me that completely relax about 10 minutes into the shoot. It’s really a lot of fun.
If the shoot is in your home studio, does that mean your family will be in the house?
Nope, I kick those suckers out. We will shoot for up to 2 hours and they will get ninja kicked if they try to come back before I call them.
Do you have anymore questions? Leave them in the comments and I’ll add to this post.

I got the following review from Lisa about her boudoir experience. This is why I do this. I’ll admit, I cried a little after I read it.
First off, let me say this was by far the BEST experience of my life. I cannot say enough about the kindness and professionalism of Carrie. I had so much fun, and the photos came out AMAZING! Carrie really encourages you to let go and be your sexiest and sauciest self. For those of you who think you may not feel comfortable doing this… I promise you… YOU WILL. You choose what you wear or in my case I gave Carrie a whole wardrobe to choose from… glam it up, tone it down, release your inner pin up girl or play the part you partner has always wanted. Be ready to let loose and trust in Carrie, because that lady is AMAZING.
The finals products are beautiful! She made me look like a million bucks and her workmanship and her creativity are first rate. I agree that this experience is worth every penny…not to mention so much fun! I will call her again now that I know what to expect and have even more fun with it. This is by far the BEST thing I have done for myself … after having 5 boys in 5 years, losing weight and getting my body back in shape (still a work in progress). I was thrilled to be able to feel sexy in my own skin again. Thanks to my husband for telling me that Carrie was looking for someone to help her! I highly recommend Carrie Evans Photography for a boudoir session.
Thank you Carrie, for making this experience fun and easy to do. I absolutely LOVE my pictures!

Ladies! Looking for that perfect gift to give your man? Are you getting married and need something spectacular to give your groom to be? I’ve got one word for ya. Boudoir. I’ll admit, it took me way too many times to learn how to spell that darn word, but let me tell you, this session is unique.

In my research for beginning this type of photography, I came across a wide variety. Unfortunately if you google it, you bring up some very hoochie images. I knew if I were to attempt this, it would need to be classy and tasteful. I’m not at all interested in making women look like hoochie mamas. I’ll leave that to the other photographers.
I believe all women need to see themselves in a different light. We judge ourselves too harshly. We focus on the negative parts of our bodies. I’ve already been focused on making women see themselves in a beautiful light in my work. This is just the same thing….with less clothing.
Because of the private nature of these types of images, I don’t want to post them here. In fact, many women will not want their images posted anywhere online. And that is totally fine. I had a willing model in Lisa, mother of 5 and not a supermodel. That was my other issue with everything else I saw online. Super hot women, looking like they belong in a Victoria’s Secret catalog. There is an art to taking a woman who might not have perfect measurements and making her look and feel as beautiful as she deserves to be. I want to do that.
Lisa and I were talking after her session about losing weight (which she has been doing with hard work!), and how we didn’t want to be THAT mom. You know, the one who gives everything to her kids and leaves nothing for herself. And then when the kids are grown and gone, what do you have left? There is nothing wrong with investing hard work into your body, whether it be working out, or celebrating the one you have by capturing that for your man to enjoy.
And you might not believe this, but your man loves your body. Stretch marks, belly fat and all. He doesn’t see what you see. This is something I am continually learning and am passionate about.
So, if you’d like to see what we will do during a boudoir session, here is a gallery of examples. Because of the nature of these images, I am not putting them on this website, but it is the responsibility of the viewer to know what they are clicking over to.
And thanks again to Lisa for modeling and being willing to be in my viewing gallery. You are spectacular! And thank you to her husband Chris for advocating for her to have her do the shoot with me.
