I love it when I make my clients so happy that they hire me repeatedly. That is the highest compliment a photographer can be given. Such is the case with the Chenault family. They loved Connor’s senior photos so much that they wanted me to capture some family memories for them. They told me, “it’s been sooo long since we’ve gotten a family photo that we don’t even have one with Addison in it.”
And isn’t that where most of us are? We get busy, life gets crazy fast and before you know it a few years have passed with nothing to document your togetherness as a family unit. Someday you’re going to want those to look back on.
I’ve known Dedra, Ken and family for years, so I knew this shoot would be fab and fun. Ken is an idea man and the kids are just crazy fun; heavy on the crazy part. I was honored to be given the task of capturing their memories.
Here’s a little peek at what we got.
Thanks Chenault’s, for nailing this shoot, making it tons of fun, and especially to Talon and Gabe for bringing the GQ by the fence. Also, thanks to Ken for being super cool about the dog incident!!
Awhile back Kathy approached me about a generational photo shoot she wanted to do with the ladies in her family. I can’t remember which one of us thought of having a tea party theme, but I’ve been looking forward to this shoot for months. Of course it took on a life of it’s own and we didn’t just do tea party stuff, but just captured life. Great people, great un-November like weather, I had fun with these ladies (and gents)!
Here are a few snaps of our time together today. Stay tuned to my Facebook page since I’ll likely preview a few more of these during the next week.
Thanks again, Kathy for having me out to your beautiful place and to spend time with your awesome family!
Everyone’s talking about Animoto, so I thought I would give it a whirl with some of my faves from the last few months before I pay for a full subscription. I think music with photos is very powerful and hopefully if I subscribe, I can have access to more musical choices. But I thought this was a catchy little tune. Enjoy!
I had a great time Sunday meeting with crazy awesome peeps for their mini sessions! The weather was great, until right up to the end, but we worked with it anyway. You’ve gotta adjust with these things. We are in Kansas after all, right Amanda?
Anyhoo, here’s a little peek at the Meet Me in the Alley mini sessions! Check out my Facebook page for more from these sessions in a few days.
Tyler-senior: musician extraordinaire. Google says that’s not a word, but I deem it so. He’s in a band called Chasing Theory. He played for me in the alley and I’m totally intrigued.
Amanda and Andrew-just because. {mostly because she is also a photographer and getting the shots you want of you and your loved ones is super hard to do yourself. I know the feeling}
Dekat family {Nikki was bummed because the weather was actually so warm that she thought her super cute scarves and vest would go to waste. I said, “throw those things on, Girl! Not gonna be wearing them all day or anything.”
Thanks to everyone who came out for the mini’s. I had a lot of fun doing this and hope to get another one lined up someday soon!
They met 7 years ago in college. Their first date was a KSU basketball game, which would lead to a tradition special enough to launch a marriage proposal at that same yearly game. Jan told me, “it just fit us.” I met Jan and Brandon on a beautiful Saturday morning, totally excited to be doing my first engagement shoot. Sure, I’ve photographed couples before, but this was an official engagement session and it couldn’t have been with nicer people. I’ll say it again, I’ve been totally blessed to work with fantastic people in this business. People that I wouldn’t mind hanging out with a bit longer and chatting. Love it.
What I love about Jan and Brandon is that they are opposites: physically and personality-wise. And they make it work and are super cute doing so. One of the funniest things Jan told me was that they spend most of their relationship negotiating. Well, then you’re just like an old married couple and if you master the art of fine negotiating, then you’ve got it made.
I wanted to show you so many of these, but in the tradition of the sneak peek, here’s just a taste. ?
Best of luck to the two of you and what an awesome, exciting wedding you’ll have overseas! Enjoy every minute of it!
Starting 2011, I will be offering a mini session for certain types of photos. One of those is the bestie shoot!
Friendship is definitely something to celebrate and capture. Life can be a beast, but a true friend truly does make it easier. They’re one of those people who you can do the snort laugh in front of, someone you can do the ugly cry around and even though you might get separated, you can always pick right back up where you left off the next time.
My fab sometimes assistant, Connor hired me to capture the friendship between her and Janelle. These two are hilarious together and I had a blast capturing some of that for them.
We shot all this in an hour, in the waning November light. It was tricky, but I think you can see that mini sessions can be tons of fun too. Thanks Ladies for the groovy time!
