Meet Winnie, my 2012 Senior Representative! I just love this little gal. She is unique, funky and breathtakingly beautiful. The facial expressions she would give me during the shoot were just blowing my mind. I love to capture the people that follow their own rules. It was a perfect match really.

I am really looking forward to this season’s senior sessions and all the cool people I’m going to meet.

jessica + david {northeast kansas photographer}

I finally shot my first wedding. And it couldn’t have been with nicer people! They were just so thrilled to have me there, I’ll admit I was humbled and honored to be a part of their special day. Jessica and David are just meant for each other. He is so sweet with her, always looking out for her. The way she looks at him just melts me. I’m a sap, really.

I have so many favorites, that I put them into a slideshow for you. Put on your favorite sappy music and let it play.

Thank you Jessica and David for putting so much trust in me to capture something beautiful for your big day. I still can’t get over how much faith you put in this girl who had never done a wedding in her life. I’m so glad you love them! Jennifer and I had a wonderful time.

While this does start my entry into the wedding photography genre, I will say that I will only be taking on a limited number of weddings per year. If you like what I’ve done here and are having a small ceremony, contact me for prices. Thanks!

the voice like melted butter

Ok, so I’ve been working like a mad woman on the last couple sessions I’ve done (one being a wedding) and haven’t had time to update this site. I promise I will. Pinky swear.

In the meantime, I thought I would post another artist that rocks my world. I feel this song has been played to freakin death on the radio and that’s unfortunate cuz it’s really a great song. However, the video is a visual feast in and of itself. It was the first song I heard of Adele’s and now I want to be her best friend. I would cook for her and she would sing for me. I might even play my piano for her if she promises to sing for me. sigh.

Her voice just cuts through my chest and grabs my squishy parts.

anyway.

here.

metric rocks my world {northeast kansas photographer}

Last week I promised I would start posting some of the music that makes me tick. I’ve only recently discovered Metric and I now have a huge music crush on them. My favorite album is Fantasies and I just can’t stop listening to it. It makes me move and the lyrics are just twisted enough for me to relate to. ;)

I love when music creates an imagery all it’s own and Metric does that for me. It’s that little unhinging that opens a world of color and light and meaning.

This is the song that got me hooked on this awesome band. I seriously hope they are making another album right this minute.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with the handsome Miles and his mom, Cassandra the other evening to capture all the cuteness that is turning 1. Such a fun age; toddling around all chunky and cute. Drool abounds and the micro expressions just kill me!

Here is a peek at the fun we had with Miles.

sight and sound {northeast kansas photographer}

I’d have to admit that music is as much a part of my life as the visual arts. It always has been. I can remember rocking out to my Cyndi Lauper records (yes, records…you know, vinyl?) back in the day and always had my mini purple boombox (yes, I said boombox), with me during my roller skating escapades.

Music touches me in a way I can’t even write about. It does the same thing a beautiful image can do, unhinge me in that innermost place where words don’t go.

So it’s no surprise that music and photography, or visual imagery go hand in hand for me. I get tons of inspiration when a song touches me. In fact, when I edit, I will often listen to music that fits the photos. Especially if a senior has told me one singer or another really moves them, I might even listen to that while editing. I believe it makes a difference.

I thought I would post music that gets me going from time to time. Just another glimpse into what makes me tick. Because like I said before, to know me, is to know my work.
